Stamped Concrete Is An Excellent Option For Pool Decking

When it comes to pool decking materials, there are plenty of favorable options. However, one option that is sometimes overlooked is stamped concrete. While it is not exactly a new concrete application, it is not as widely used for pool decking surfaces as other options. If you plan to install a new pool deck or want to revamp your existing surface, learn why stamped concrete is an awesome selection.

Cost

One of the more immediate benefits of this material choice is its cost. Compared to other popular options, such as travertine or pavers, stamped concrete can offer the same distinct look but for a fraction of the cost. One reason for this advantage is that its application simply involves a slab installation. Once set, the concrete is then stamped with your specified design. With pavers, you have to install the slab, allow it to cure, and then apply the pavers atop the surface, which can be costly.

Maintenance

With proper installation, concrete is one of the easiest surfaces to maintain. Upon initial installation, you can have the surface sealed and then re-sealed around once a year, depending on your local climate conditions. Beyond this process, there is little you have to do. Owning a stamped concrete surface is very easy compared to pavers, which are prone to frequent staining.

Durability

Low cost is excellent, but there is no advantage if this decreased cost is not paired with increased durability. Not only is concrete easy to maintain, but it is also known to last for a very long time, which means that your investment will go further. Again, with pavers, there are issues. While the concrete surface under the pavers typically remains intact, the pavers are prone to shifting, which can lead to chipping and destruction of the pavers. As a result, these types of surfaces have to be reapplied far more frequently than stamped concrete.

Variety

People sometimes shy away from concrete because they think it is dull or boring, but it is important to understand that stamped concrete is far from basic. Stamped concrete can be applied in a variety of different colors to match whatever style or environment you desire. The stamped designs are also custom, so you can choose something that mimics the look of pavers or a more abstract design for the surface; the choice is yours.
